Yes — modern mini-splits with heat pump technology provide efficient heating down to -13 degrees F (Mitsubishi Hyper-Heat) or -4 degrees F (most other brands). They are 2-3x more efficient than electric baseboard heat and can significantly reduce heating costs compared to oil or gas systems.
A single-zone system is typically installed in 4-6 hours — you will have heating and cooling the same day. Multi-zone systems (2-4 zones) take 1-2 days. We schedule installations within the same week in most cases and always clean up completely before we leave.
Modern mini-splits are incredibly quiet. Indoor units operate at 19-25 dB — quieter than a whisper (30 dB) or a library (40 dB). Outdoor units are similarly quiet at 48-56 dB. You will likely forget it is running. This is a massive improvement over window units which typically run at 50-60 dB.
Minimal. Clean or replace the filters every 1-2 months (takes 30 seconds — they slide right out). We recommend an annual professional deep cleaning to wash the coils and check refrigerant levels. Our maintenance plans cover everything and keep your warranty valid.
